The Hamilton Police Division recognizes the outstanding police work of its officers, following a motor vehicle stop that escalated into a foot pursuit and resulted in the recovery of illegal narcotics and a loaded "Ghost" firearm.
At approximately 1:30 a.m., Officers, M. Chianese and C. Kemler, conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of Liberty Street and Chambers Street for an equipment violation. During the stop and subsequent investigation, both the driver, later identified as Tracy Hawk, and the front seat passenger, later identified as Daveon Brown, both residents of the City of Trenton, were asked to exit the vehicle. Moments later, Brown fled the scene on foot after officers attempted to take him into custody. Hawk remained on scene and was taken into custody for being in possession of narcotics. Officer Kemler, with the assistance of Officers, A. Aquino, C. Kasa, and M. Gigliotti, pursued Brown through a residential neighborhood, where he was taken into custody after a short chase. After Brown's arrest, a loaded blue and white colored 9mm "Ghost Gun" was found.
Hawk and Brown were transported to Hamilton Police Headquarters, where they were charged accordingly. Hawk was later released from custody, and Brown was transported to the Mercer County Correctional Facility, where he is currently awaiting a detention hearing.
All accused individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
