[ARCHIVED] Hamilton Recognized with Clean Communities Grant, Ranking the Fifth-Highest in NJ and Highest in Mer

Hamilton Township is proud to announce that it has been awarded a Clean Communities Grant, and secured the fifth-highest grant amount in the state and highest in Mercer County for this year. The Township has been recognized for its ongoing commitment to environmental and community beautification efforts, receiving an outstanding grant totaling $248,023.74.

This significant award represents an increase of $29,658 from the previous year, highlighting Hamilton Township's dedication to enhancing local cleanliness and sustainability initiatives, one thing residents have been passionate about. The grant funding continues to provide aid in supporting various programs and projects aimed at preserving the Township's natural beauty and promoting a cleaner, healthier environment for all residents. Clean initiatives include annual stream cleanups, the annual Bromley neighborhood cleanup, and street sweeping. The Township's 2024 stream cleanup, organized by the Environmental Advisory Commission, led to the collection of 2.96 tons of trash and recyclables thanks to the efforts of local volunteers.

As a recipient of the fifth-highest Clean Communities Grant in the state, Hamilton Township continues to demonstrate leadership in environmental conservation and proactive waste management practices throughout the township and its local roads spreading across 625 miles. The Township's continuous approaches to litter reduction, recycling programs, and community education have been instrumental in securing yet another impactful grant allocation.

“We are very pleased to receive this grant funding to support our efforts to make Hamilton Township clean and beautiful, said Mayor Martin. These state grant funds are an important resource as we look to continue many ongoing programs aimed at protecting our local environment, including the annual Bromley neighborhood cleanup, annual stream cleanups, and ongoing street sweeping efforts across Hamilton’s 625 miles of local roads. This grant will ensure that these critical programs will continue without the need to devote local tax dollars.”

The Clean Communities Grant award demonstrates Hamilton Township's proactive approach to environmental preservation and reinforces its position as a grant leader in sustainable practices within the state. Hamilton looks forward to utilizing the grant funds to continue the annual impactful projects that benefit the community and contribute to a cleaner, greener future for all.
