Hamilton Township
Business of the Week Green Haven Garden
Center

Small businesses are the backbone of Hamilton and as a show of
support, each week at random we select a business from our Hamilton Township
Business Registry to feature as the Business of the Week. As ‘Business of the
Week’ your business is introduced to the community – giving your company
exposure to residents, other companies, and visitors who might not have known
about your business previously. To ensure your business has the chance to be
spotlighted in an upcoming Hamilton Business of the Week post and to learn more
about our Free Business Registry and its offerings visit www.hamiltonnj.com/EconomicDevelopment .
This week’s Business of the Week is Green Haven Garden Center
Green Haven Garden Center is a small, locally owned garden
center which offers plants for both indoors and out. Owner Carol Thomas, is a
garden expert who studied landscape architecture at Cook College, Rutgers
University.
Carol and her team (which includes her dog, Momo) will help you
choose plants that will thrive at your home. Gardeners can choose pansies in
pots, hanging baskets, hanging pouches, or flats – all in a variety of colors
and sizes. Herb, flower, and vegetable seeds from Botanical Interests seed
company are available, as well as sprouts and micro-green seeds and micro-green
sprouts. Their goal is also to be good public citizens of our community. They
do not sell invasive plants and work hard to minimize their use of herbicides
and pesticides. Green Haven is the only Garden Center in the area who is
affiliated with Bower & Branch which allows customers to browse trees,
shrubs and perennials that are difficult to find. Green Haven is a proud member
of the American Beauties Native Plants. Carol is a big supporter of supporting
local artists and she features a few in her shop. She also offers Garden
Coaching on a variety of topics to help you “create your haven”.
They are pleased to announce they are reopening for the season
tomorrow, April 1st!

Work Underway to Refurbish Hamilton's 9/11
Memorial in Veteran's Park

In remembrance of the upcoming 20th anniversary of
September 11th, the Hamilton Township Department of Public Works and
Sean’s Landscaping are working together to update the 9-11 Memorial Grove which
is located at the North Entrance of Veteran’s Park.
Sean’s Landscaping has generously offered to donate and install
granite pavers to enhance the memorial and our Public Works crew have been hard
at work preparing the area for the project.
Once the project is completed, we hope you will visit the
memorial to pay homage to our heroes, to those we lost, to the first responders
who answered the call that day and in the days to follow, and to ensure we
never forget the tragic events that occurred on that day.
Reminder: Township to Commemorate Lives Lost to
COVID-19 Tomorrow April 1st

This time last year we began to face an unknown fight against
the coronavirus, and now, a year later we know much more than we did in the
beginning, and we continue to rage a war together against COVID-19. Today,
March 31st marks the one year anniversary on which the first Hamiltonian
succumbed to the coronavirus. Just in Hamilton, we have faced over 6,000
positive cases and lost 217 lives to this awful virus.
To honor those Hamilton residents we have lost to COVID-19, we
will have a display of luminaries in front of the Hamilton Township Public
Library (1 Justice Samuel A. Alito, Jr. Way Hamilton, NJ 08619) on the evening
of Thursday, April 1st. All are invited to stop by for a moment of
reflection and pay homage to those we have lost.

Hamilton's Azalea
Festival Cancelled for 2021

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, this year's Azalea Festival,
originally scheduled for Saturday, May 8th, has been
cancelled. While Sayen Gardens will be remain open for
normal visitation over Mother's Day weekend, tours of Sayen House and vendors
will not be available.
Each year, Sayen Gardens receives thousands of visitors for
Azalea Festival and unfortunately, outdoor gathering limits are unlikely to be
expanded enough to safely celebrate this year.
We invite you to visit Hamilton’s Sayen Botanical Gardens
throughout the warmer months to enjoy this beautiful park and its
amenities. We look forward to celebrating Azalea Festival together again
in 2022.
