Hamilton is one of only a select group of towns in New Jersey to receive this prestigious recognition, highlighting its continued commitment to community health and wellness.

The Mayors Wellness Campaign (MWC), a program of the New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute in partnership with the New Jersey State League of Municipalities, aims to improve health and wellness in communities across the state. The program provides structure and evidence-based resources for local wellness initiatives through public-private partnerships.

Since renewing its commitment to the MWC in 2022, Mayor Jeff Martin and the Hamilton Township Mayor’s Wellness Campaign Committee have worked diligently to improve the overall health and wellness of residents by organizing a variety of health-focused programs and initiatives.

In 2024, Hamilton Township expanded its public health initiatives in collaboration with the Health and Recreation Departments and various local organizations. The township continued offering free health screenings, mental health awareness programs, and substance use prevention initiatives. Some of the standout programs included:

  • Walks with the Mayor – Encouraging community engagement and physical activity.
  • International Overdose Awareness Day – Providing education and resources on substance use prevention and recovery.
  • Nutrition & Food Security Programs – Addressing food insecurity through expanded partnerships and meal distribution services.
  • Youth and Senior Wellness Activities – Offering exercise programs, mental health workshops, and social engagement events for residents of all ages.
