Jammel Dunn

                                                                                                Jammel Dunn

Hamilton, NJ: On Saturday, March 1, 2025 at approximately 11:39 AM Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Woodlawn Avenue on a report of a disturbance. Officers spoke to the victim who stated the suspect had assaulted her on Friday. The suspect had grabbed the victim’s hair and punched her in the face. He then strangled the victim using his hands. The suspect was identified as Jammel Dunn, 34, of Trenton. Officers went to the 1500 block of Greenwood Avenue in Trenton and located Dunn sitting outside on the front porch of a residence with a large dog. The front yard had a gated entry. Officers asked Dunn to put the dog in the residence and exit the gated area to speak with them. He refused to leave the porch and when Officers told him he was under arrest, he retreated into the residence. Dunn then tried to flee the residence out the back door but saw Officers standing out back and again retreated back into the house as a barricaded suspect. The Mercer County Tactical Response Team was contacted and arrived on scene taking over the perimeter. At approximately 7:04 PM Officers from the Response Team entered the residence and placed Dunn under arrest. He was escorted outside and turned over to the custody of Hamilton Police.

Dunn was charged with Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault, Obstructing the Administration of Law and Resisting Arrest. He was transported to the Mercer County Correctional Facility pending a detention hearing.

Hamilton Police would like to thank the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, the Mercer County Tactical Response Team and the Trenton Police Department for their assistance.

Anyone with any information regarding this incident is asked to contact Detective Bob Whartenby of the Hamilton Police Division Major Crimes Unit at (609) 581-4032 or the Hamilton Police Crime Tip Hotline at (609) 581-4008.
