Office of the Municipal Clerk

Welcome to the Municipal Clerk's Office portion of our website. The Office of the Municipal Clerk has many duties which include secretary to the governing body, chief administrative officer for all local elections, registrar of municipal voters, custodian of records, and also provides for the issuance of various licenses and permits.

Acting as secretary to the governing body, the Office of the Municipal Clerk maintains all records with regard to the township's local ordinances, resolutions, and public proceedings. This office prepares the minutes for all Township Council meetings, processes, records and files ordinances and resolutions and other official documents.

As the township's election official, the Municipal Clerk handles voter registration, accepts petitions for vacancies in local elected offices, provides materials for local and Board of Education elections, selects polling locations and calculates and maintains custody of election results.

The Municipal Clerk also provides for the issuance of various licenses and permits for the following:

  • Automobile Dealers
  • Bingo and Raffle
  • Jewelry, Precious Metals and Gems
  • Junk Dealers and Yards
  • Massage and/or Somatic Establishment
  • Miscellaneous Sales (Temporary Outdoor)
  • Liquor Licenses (Licensing, Sales and One Day Permits
  • Peddler/Vendor
  • Solicitors/Canvassers
  • Taxicab Owner/Operator
  • Theatres
  • Towing

Notice of Claim

In the event there is an incident/occurrence where negligence is alleged against the Township of Hamilton or where you believe the Township of Hamilton is at fault, a Notice of Claim form must be filed within ninety days of the date of the incident/occurrence, pursuant to NJ.S.A. 59:8-1 et seq. You may file a notice of claim online. 

Public Records

As the custodian of the township's records, the office of the Municipal Clerk is also a major source of information for our residents. As such, public record requests are processed through this office.
