Hamilton Township Mayor Jeff Martin and Mercer County Commissioner Nina Melker were present to welcome 2nd Ave. Thrift Superstore with a grand opening & ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, April 14, 2022.
The new 2nd Ave. Thrift Superstore location occupies a 33,000-square-foot space in the Hamilton Plaza Shopping Center at 1071 Whitehorse-Mercerville Road in Hamilton. 2nd Ave. Thrift provides an immersive shopping experience that meets the needs of value hunters, collectors, resellers, and DIY-ers. The thrift chain is dedicated to bringing customers the best value in high-quality, secondhand clothing, household goods, and collectibles.
“The Hamilton Plaza Shopping Center has had many new businesses move in lately and I’m very glad to say that 2nd Ave Thrift is one of them,” said Mayor Jeff Martin. “Not only does 2nd Ave Thrift provide our community with a way to shop locally and in a way that makes you feel good – about 10,000 items get recycled or reused a week as opposed to ending up in a landfill – but seeing this shopping center revitalized with new and different businesses is very exciting for all of us in Hamilton. We’re very excited to have 2nd Ave join our community.”
Since 1959, 2nd Ave. Thrift Superstores have been providing customers with the best in discount retail while simultaneously being a longstanding, contributing member of each of the communities to which it belongs. Their main goal is to keep as many reusable clothing and household items as possible out of landfills. The Hamilton location will employ more than 80 individuals, including a Store Manager, Retail and Production Managers, Supervisors, and Hourly Associates. Over 10,000 items will be added to its sales floor each day, including clothing, shoes, housewares, jewelry, games, books, vinyl, and much more. 2nd Ave. also has a life-long relationship with leading national nonprofit and charitable organizations. They purchase merchandise from nonprofit and philanthropic partners, providing essential funding that helps those organizations achieve their missions. So, as consumers donate goods, they also support a local nonprofit organization while also impacting the environment by diverting reusable goods from landfills.
“We are excited to open this new location which meets a rapidly growing customer base who is looking for a convenient opportunity to shop the premiere thrift experience we offer,” said Andres Gonzalez, Regional Manager of 2nd Ave. Thrift Superstores. “We are proud to serve as the go-to for high-quality secondhand clothing and household items needed in the area while freeing millions of pounds of reusable goods from landfills each year.”
