Mayor Nominates Parent of Special Needs Child to Serve on Hamilton’s Special Needs Commission
To fill a vacant position on the
Mayor’s Commission for Persons with Special Needs, Mayor Kelly Yaede has
nominated a local parent of a child with special needs.
Yaede has nominated Hamilton
resident Mark Gruzlovic to serve on the Township’s Special Needs Commission.
Gruzlovic is the father of an adult
child with special needs who uses a wheelchair.
Through his efforts as an involved parent, Gruzlovic has experience in meeting
the challenges that face special needs residents, such as seeking out networks
for information and support and searching for financial aid or assistance
programs. Additionally, as a parent of a
special needs child, he also interacted with several area organization that support
individuals with special needs, such as YMCA SKOR (Special
Kids Organized Recreation) programs, Miracle League baseball and Nottingham
Challengers Little League baseball.
Gruzlovic is also a career public
servant with over 36 years of service at the New Jersey Department of
Environmental Protection. He has also had
involvement with many local civic organization such as the Ancient Order of
Hibernians – Monsignor Crean Division #1, the Benevolent and Protective Order
of the Elks Lodge 2262, the Danube Swabian Association and the American
Hungarian Civic Association of Trenton.
“As a parent of a child with
special needs, who my wife and I are incredibly proud of, my interest is in
assisting our local citizens with special needs and people like my son,” says
Gruzlovic. “I want to thank Mayor Yaede
for this honor and hope I can contribute in a constructive manner to serving
our residents with special needs.”

child, I know that Mark has a passion to help contribute to work of our Special
Needs Commission,” explains Mayor Yaede.
“I look forward to his service and his contribution to the commission.”
Gruzlovic’s nomination will be
presented to the Township Council for final approval this evening.
The Mayor's Commission on Persons
with Special Needs is an advisory body that seeks to make recommendations for
policies and programs related to the best interests of individuals with
physical and developmental disabilities within Hamilton Township. Likewise, the Commission periodically
undertakes initiatives proposed by the Mayor to serve citizens with special
