1/4/2010 - Curbside Christmas Tree Collection Begins in Hamilton

Curbside Christmas Tree Collection Begins in Hamilton

With the end of the holiday season, Hamilton residents can begin using the Township’s curbside Christmas Tree collection service this week.

The service, which began today and continues until Friday, January 29th, allows Hamilton residents to place their Christmas Trees at their properties’ curbsides.  Township employees will then pick-up and dispose of the trees.

As part of the service, residents are asked for the following:

ü Remove ALL decorations, ornaments, tinsel, wires, nails, etc.

ü Do NOT place trees in plastic bags

ü Place trees curbside by 7:30 AM on Mondays in January

(NOTE:  Pick-up will occur sometime during that week. Christmas Trees placed curbside at the middle or end of a week may not be able to be picked-up until the end of the following week.)

Hamilton residents can also dispose of Christmas Trees at the Township’s Ecological Facility, which is located on Kuser Road, on weekdays between the hours of 7:00 AM and 3:30 PM and on Saturdays between the hours of 7:00 AM and 2:00 PM.  The Township Ecological Facility offers this drop-off service free-of-charge to Hamilton residents; however, any commercial vehicles that drop off Christmas Trees will be charged a fee.

In addition to the Christmas Tree collection service, Hamilton Township provides residents with an ability to dispose of items (brush, grass clippings, leaves, etc.) at specific times throughout the year.  In the 2010 Hamilton Township calendar, which was mailed to all Hamilton residents last month, these services are listed each month under the “Important Township Information” section.  Residents may also visit the Township’s website (www.HamiltonNJ.com) and click on the “How Do I Get Rid Of…” link.

For questions regarding Christmas Tree collection, residents can call the Township’s Department of Public Works at 890-3560, weekdays between the hours of 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
