Hamilton Mayor to Perform Weddings; Will Officiate Ceremonies This Valentine’s Day at Kuser Mansion
Hamilton residents who wish to exchange their wedding vows on Valentine’s Day will be able to do so this February 14th at Kuser Mansion with a prominent, local official presiding over the ceremony.
Hamilton Township Mayor Kelly A. Yaede has announced she will perform wedding ceremonies as Mayor– reinstating the tradition of the Township’s Mayor officiating such ceremonies for residents.
In New Jersey, Mayors have the authority, but are not required, to perform weddings for their community’s residents. Mayor Yaede’s decision to perform wedding ceremonies reinstates this past tradition for the first time in five years.
“After receiving requests from residents to perform their wedding ceremonies, I decided that it was time to revive this tradition for the benefit of our community’s couples. In fact, the first wedding I performed as Mayor was for one of our Township employees,” explained Mayor Yaede.
Hamilton residents looking to have their wedding officiated by Mayor Yaede this Valentine’s Day are asked to contact the Township’s Division of Health by Friday, February 1, 2013, by phone at (609) 890-3826 to schedule an in-person appointment for the license application. Due to the limited availability for ceremonies on February 14, 2013, couples are encouraged to contact the Division of Health as soon as possible.
