Hamilton Residents Can Dispose of Unwanted Prescription Drugs This Saturday (April 28)
Hamilton residents can dispose of expired, unused or unwanted prescription drugs this Saturday, April 28, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the Hamilton Police Division Headquarters (located at 1270 Whitehorse-Mercerville Road).
The collection is part of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s “National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.”
Through the initiative, law enforcement officials collect unused or unwanted medicines so that they can be disposed of in a safe and non-hazardous manner, preventing substance abuse or the illegal resale of prescription drugs.
“By participating in this effort, residents can play an active and important role in assisting law enforcement efforts to combat prescription drug abuse by limiting its access and availability to minors,” says Hamilton Police Chief, James W. Collins.
As part of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s previous three Take-Back Days, citizens across the country turned in nearly a million pounds of prescription drugs at over 5,300 sites.
