Hamilton Announces Free Flu Immunization Clinics and Available Pneumonia Vaccinations
Hamilton residents can take precautions to help avoid the flu this season by attending one of the Township’s free flu immunization clinics, which will offered in September and October. This year’s flu vaccine contains protection against the H1N1 flu, as well as the “seasonal” flu strains. Clinic times, dates and locations are listed below.
The clinics are open to Township residents only as a courtesy and proof of residency is required. In addition to all adults, children over the age of 9 may also attend these clinics, but must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Flu vaccines are also available for homebound residents and can be scheduled by contacting the Hamilton Township Division of Health directly at (609) 890-3884 for an appointment.
Each year the influenza virus affects millions of people in all age categories, but it is especially dangerous to certain age groups and health groups. Flu immunization is recommended for anyone who wants to reduce the chances of becoming ill with influenza or transmitting it to others.
“Our free flu clinics provide residents with an excellent opportunity to reduce their chances of contracting the flu this season. I encourage residents, and especially residents who may be more susceptible to the flu because of a chronic health condition, to attend one of our free clinics,” says Hamilton Township Mayor John Bencivengo.
Pneumonia vaccinations are also available this year for residents who are 65 years of age or older and for residents of all ages who have chronic illnesses such as diabetes, cardiac illness or respiratory conditions. Residents who are interested in receiving pneumonia vaccinations should also contact the Hamilton Township Division of Health directly at (609) 890-3884 to schedule an appointment.
In the event that any dates are changed, the new dates will be placed on the Hamilton Township website (www.HamiltonNJ.com) and Hamilton’s Facebook page.
