Bowhill Avenue Sewer System Repair Project Begins Week of June 13th
The Hamilton Township Department of Water Pollution Control would like to notify you of the upcoming sanitary sewer replacement on Bowhill Avenue. Construction will begin on or about Monday, June 13, 2011. Construction will occur along Bowhill Avenue from the Stenton Court to Reed Avenue. Where possible, the sanitary sewer force main and gravity main in the road will be replaced using a technology called pipe bursting. Pipe bursting breaks up the old pipe while it is still in the ground and a new pipe is pulled in its place. This high-tech alternative is faster and far less disruptive to the neighborhood than traditional excavation and replacement of the pipe. Where pipe bursting cannot be used for pipe replacement, excavation will be used. This particular sewer line is over 60 years old. By replacing the sanitary sewer pipe now, we hope to enjoy another 60 plus years of uninterrupted sewer service, prevent additional inconvenience to you, and prevent future, more costly construction from broken pipes.
To complete the sewer replacement, there will be changes in traffic patterns and parking on portions of Bowhill Avenue as needed during construction. Emergency vehicles will continue to have access to streets and homes during construction. If driveways and/or sidewalks need to be temporarily closed during construction, every attempt will be made to reopen them at the end of every day. Every possible effort will be made to accommodate the fundamental needs of the residents.
We apologize for the inconvenience this work may cause and ask for your cooperation and understanding with any necessary, temporary changes in traffic patterns. Thank you in advance for your patience as we prepare for much-needed upgrades to the sanitary sewer system that serves your home and your neighborhood. If you have any questions, please contact me at (609) 581-4140 weekdays between 8 AM and 4 PM.
Very truly yours,
Richard W. Watson, Director
