Bocce Ball, Card Playing, Jigsaw Puzzles, Pool Playing, Ping Pong & Shuffleboard
Enjoy these activities daily during the Center’s hours. If you are interested in participating or hosting a tournament, please inquire at the Front Desk.
Have fun while learning formal social dances. Ballroom Dancing will also provide you terrific health benefits. Ballroom Dancing is held on Friday mornings from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. There is a $5.00 per class charge.
Bingo is enjoyed by all most mornings in the Dining Room. The Center also has bingo every Monday and Thursday afternoons from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Dining Room.
Learn to make your own greeting cards, note pads, etc. Classes are held Thursday afternoons from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the All Purpose Room.
A program to help you keep flexible. Classes are held on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. The classes are lead by a volunteer from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. and is free.
Get together with other members for singing the “good old songs”. The Choral Group meets every Tuesday in the Dining Room from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The Center holds periodic computer classes to help you enhance your computer skills from the beginner to advance levels. Cost and duration of course varies. Please see the computer class schedule on the table in the Main Hallway.
This class is a bible study, prayer and support session with other members. Daily Bread meets every Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the meeting room next to the swimming pool.
The group meets every Wednesday afternoon between 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the card tables in the meeting room next to the swimming pool.
Workout in our Fitness Room equipped with treadmills, bikes, and other exercise equipment. The Fitness Room is open the same hours of the Senior Center with the exception of every Thursday afternoon between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m. when the Fitness Room is closed for maintenance.
Take pleasure from gardening yet no longer have a garden? Join our garden club and reap the harvest! The Garden Club usually starts around early May, look for flyers in the Main Hallway.
All the fun you could want! Enjoy strutting your stuff, while learning new dances. These classes are held every Monday and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the All Purpose Room.
On occasion different types of dance lessons will be offered during the year. Look for flyers on the table in the Main Hallway. When these classes are offered it will be a different day and time then the Line Dancing.
Mah Jongg Club
Enjoy the challenge of this Chinese tile game. The club meets every Wednesday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the All Purpose Room.
The center is utilized by the County of Mercer for individuals 60 years of age and older for the County Nutrition Program for the Elderly. For more information on the Lunch Program, please see the County employees in the Dining Room every day from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A $1.00 donation is requested. Reservations are required in advance. Call 586-7272 between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. for more information or 989-6650 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
The TV/Media Room is available anytime the center is open. Majority rules are the guidelines for viewing television. A senior center staff member MUST operate all the media equipment.
Rummikub is a board type game based from the card game Rummy 500 or Gin Rummy. Rummikub can be played with 2 to 4 players. Games are kept throughout the building. If you are interested in playing, please see a staff member.
Challenge your brain power with the Scrabble Group. The Group meets every Wednesday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the meeting room next to the swimming pool. Come and invigorate the mind!

Swimming and Water Exercise
Our swimming pool is open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A water exercise class is offered every Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Independent swimming is held at all other times when the pool is open. The cost of the swimming pool is $3.00 per hour. The charge also includes use of the hot tub. Complete locker rooms are available, feel free to bring your own small pad lock. All locks must be removed at the end of your swim session.
The Theater Group adds quality to the lives of participants through the art of singing, dancing and acting. The Theater Groups usually produces and performs 2 to 3 productions per year. Practice/rehearsals varies throughout the year.
Join the many senior walkers on the grounds of the senior center everyday. The club walks as a group on Tuesday and Fridays morning’s beginning at 9:00 AM.
Spring and Fall Dinner Dances
These events are held in May and October. The location, times and date are published approximately one month prior to the event. These events are popular and sell out quickly, so don’t forget to look for the flyers!
This annual event is held towards the end of September on the Senior Center’s grounds. Enjoy an old fashion picnic while chatting with new and old friends. Enjoy dancing with a local band.
The Center will host events throughout the year such as the Friendship Breakfast, St. Patrick’s Day Party, Spring Fling, Garden Tea Party, Root Beer Float Party, Grandparents Pizza Party, Halloween Party, and the Holiday Social. Flyers announcing each event and when the tickets go on sale are put on display usually a month before event.
Between March and November the center runs a trip to a different casino. Flyers for each monthly trip will be on the “Trip” table across from the Dining Room approximately one month before the date of the trip. The cost is usually under $20.00 per person.
The Center arranges trips to different Dinner Theaters throughout the year. These Dinner Theaters are usually held at lunchtime. Departure from the center is in the morning and you usually return late afternoon or early evening. All flyers will be on the “Trip” table across from the Dining Room. The cost of these trips will vary depending on the location and theater.
On occasion, the center will run trips to various places during Spring and Summer. Shuttle bus transportation is free, only expenses incurred would be for lunch, shopping, etc. Flyers will be on the “Trip” table across from the Dining Room. Each trip is limited to 20 seniors, so they fill up fast.
Information & Assistance
Emergency Cell Phone Program
The Center will supply Hamilton Seniors with a cell phone for the use of 911 calls ONLY. Only one phone per household is permitted. If interested in receiving a cell phone, stop by the Front Desk or call 890-3686 to make an appointment.
Income Tax, Homestead Rebate Preparation
AARP volunteers will help seniors with income taxes and the homestead rebate applications. Volunteers are at the center one morning per week between February and mid April. Appointments are mandatory. See a staff member or call 890-3686 for an appointment time.
Mercer County Bar Association Paralegal is at the center usually the first Monday of every month. Appointments are mandatory. See a staff member or call 890-3686 to make an appointment.
The Center has donated medical equipment such as canes, crutches, commodes, walkers, wheelchairs, etc. A deposit of $10.00 is required and refunded when the equipment is returned in good condition.
NJ EASE Access Site
NJ Ease is a Statewide Program of information and assistance for the older adult. Information is available, referrals given and coordination provided on services and programs for seniors on local, county, state and federal levels. Includes options on senior housing, home care and entitlement programs.
NJ Shares (NJ Statewide Heating Assistance and Referral for Energy Services)
NJ Shares is a fund for individuals who may not otherwise qualify for low income assistance programs. Individuals applying for NJ Shares must meet NJ Shares qualification guidelines. Middle-income households with a temporary hardship due to illness or other misfortune might be eligible for the program. See Front Desk for more information.
The Hamilton Township Health Department and Local Community Partners provide health education classes and screenings at the center by appointment only. Please call 890-3686 for additional information and to schedule an appointment.
The Hamilton Township Police Department provides a program to Hamilton Seniors and the disabled to ensure their daily safety. If you would like participate in this program, contact the Hamilton Township Police Department personnel at 581-4033.
PAAD/Senior Gold Card
A statewide program for assistance in helping older adults with prescription costs. For assistance in completing the application, please stop by the Front Desk or call 890-3686 for an appointment.
SHIP (Senior Health Insurance Program)
A State program of trained volunteer counselors who assist with completion of Medicare and supplemental health insurance forms and review of policies. Call 890-3686 for an appointment.
Mercer County Surrogate’s Office
For your convenience, the Surrogate will meet with you at the Hamilton Township Senior Center on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. To make an appointment, call the Surrogate’s Office at 989-6331. By appointment only.
Handyman Helpers Program makes small home safety related repairs for Hamilton Township Seniors. The labor is provided at no cost; the homeowner pays only for materials. Examples of the work that our Handyman is able to do: install grab rails, repair leaky faucets, install smoke alarms, replace light bulbs, batteries and fuses, install or remove small window air conditioners and other screwdriver and pliers type of repairs. Transportation services offered by Hamilton Township are for seniors that are physical able to walk to and from the vehicle. At this time, we are not able to offer transportation services to seniors confined to a wheelchair.
The Center will provide transportation for our seniors Monday through Friday from approximately 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Advance noticed is needed to arrange your transportation. To arrange transportation please call 890-3686.
The Center will provide transportation for our seniors that have no other means to go food shopping, on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. The supermarket is at the discretion of the Township driver depending on their route for the day. The transportation is available Monday through Thursday. The Mercer County T.R.A.D.E. provides transportation to the Hamilton Township Nutrition Site (Hamilton Senior Center) Monday through Friday. T.R.A.D.E. is able to assist the wheelchair bound senior in their transportation needs. For more information, please call 530-1971 or Click Here.
Is a nationwide transportation service offered to seniors and handicapped individuals with a minimal charge. Call 1-800-955-2321 for more information.
Is a medical transportation services for Medicaid, wheelchair and ambulatory seniors. Two options are available: Self-pay ($80.00 and up). Medicaid patients must go through a social worker and need 48 hours notice. For Medi-Transport of Mercer County call 609-586-7171.
The senior center welcomes volunteers as receptionists, group leaders, office assistants, special event assistants and general program helpers. Monetary donations or materials are always welcome. We welcome volunteers of all ages!
