How do I get a Landlord License and what is the fee?

No Landlord shall be entitled to rent a Rental Unit unless said Landlord is in possession of a valid Landlord License.

1.      The fee for a Landlord License shall be $200.00 and must be renewed every five years.

2.      The fee for a Landlord License for owner occupied rental units containing 4 units or less shall be $75.00 and must be renewed every five years.

3.      Senior citizen exemption.  If the owner of the property is a senior citizen who resides in a unit of the property and rents out the remaining unit and would otherwise qualify under the State of New Jersey property tax deduction under N.J.S.A. 54:4-8.41, there shall be no fee.

Landlord Licenses are not transferable to other entities or parties.
